Born to James Washington Hunter (1836-1905) & Martha ________ Hunter (1845-?), both of Tennessee. In 1880, he was living in Dickson County, Tennessee with his parents.

William married 1) Eliza Early (1863-1926) of Missouri on Dec. 13, 1887, in Brownwood, TX.

Six children:
• Lee Hunter (died as an infant; dates uncertain)
• Minnie Hunter (died as an infant; dates uncertain)
• James Austin "Jim" Hunter (1892-1973)
• Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Hunter Allen (1895-1977)

In 1900 - 1920 censuses, the family lived in Handley, Tarrant County, TX, until Eliza died in 1926. William was a farmer & stockman.

William married 2) Beulah Latimer Kelley (1886-1962) on May 23, 1928, in Johnson County, TX. No children. In 1930, he was living in Fort Worth with Beulah and her youngest son, George Hershal Kelley. They were married 14 years until he died in 1942.
