William Harrison Ethridge of the Big Dam Swamp section near Andrews died at his home late Wednesday night after several years of ill health and a serious illness, of five months.

Funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Black River Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be the pastor, the Rev. Paul J. Sheehan and the Rev. Mr. Richburg. Burial will follow in the Piney Forest Cemetery under the direction of Mayer Funeral Home.

Mr. Ethridge, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Ethridge, was born in Georgetown County April 1, 1888. He spent his entire life in the Big Dam Swamp section where he was born and farmed until his retirement several years ago. Mr. Ethridge's wife, Mrs. Sallie Godwin Ethridge died October 18, 1958.

Surviving are: two sons, Luther Ethridge and Woodrow Ethridge, both of Andrews; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Powell and Mrs. Amanda Cooper, also of Andrews; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
