Architect. He designed many structures in St. Louis, including the Sheldon Memorial, the Soulard Street Library and the pavillions on either side of the Cascades at the 1904 World's Fair in Forest Park. After studying in Paris and Berlin, he returned to St. Louis and worked under Emmanuel Masqueray, chief architect of the 1904 World's Fair. He designed most of the bridges crossing the lagoons and much of the plasterwork on the Pike. He was later named the consulting architect for the new Capitol building in Jefferson City, Missouri, but was forced to resign because of illness. His funeral was held in the Artists' Guild building that he had designed five years earlier.
