Hays -- John F. Amundson, 66, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Hays Medical Center. He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Cliffton, Texas, to Adolph George and Alvina (Grim) Amundson.

He married Evelyn Binder on Oct. 22, 1982.

He was a self-employed painter and spent most of his life in Hays. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving for 16 years and two missions in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Tim Amundson, Port O'Connor, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Harverth, Port O'Connor; two stepsons, David Flinn, Troy, Mo., and Patrick Flinn, Springfield, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Donna Bernard, Lyons, 111., Diana Frogue, Mount Vernon, Mo., and Debbie Griffon, Springfield; eight brothers; a sister; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, with military honors by the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars; private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. Friday at the mortuary.
