Funeral services for Rembert "Bub" Etheridge, 37, of South Island Plantation, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Prince George Winyah Protestant Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the rector, the Rev. A. Nelson Daunt. Burial will be in Piney Forest Cemetery.
Mr. Etheridge died late Thursday afternoon, enroute to a Georgetown hospital following an attack suffered at his home. He had been in failing health for the past several months.
He was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Emma Coward Etheridge and the late Jessie Etheridge. He attended the schools of that area and served five years in the Army, during World Ward II, 3 1/2 of which were served in Europe, North Africa, and Iceland. For the past several years he had been employed as a dairyman on South Island Plantation. He marrreid the former Miss Kitty Speicer of London. He was a member of Prince George Protestant Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of near Andrews; a brother, Bobby Joe Etheridge of South Island; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Dyson of near Andrews, Mrs. Bill Schreck of Atlanta, and Mrs. Charlie Johnosn of Georgetown; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lida Coward of Scranton.
