Aged Bell County Resident Dies

BARTLETT, Sept. 15. - Word was received here today telling of the death of Mrs. Minti E. Mize, 90 years of age, one of Bell county's oldest residents at her home in Nolanville, in the northwestern part of the county, Tuesday after an illness of several months. Mrs. Mize was born in Tennessee, July 1, 1837. Prior to her marriage, she was Miss Soape, a sister of the late Tom Soape, one of the first settlers of Bell county, who lived many years near Nolanville. Her father was accidently killed when she was a beby and as a young girl she moved with her mother and other members of the family to Mississippi and from there to east Texas, but after a few years they moved to Bell county and settled on the old Mize homestead in Nolan Valley. She is survived by three children, Preston Mize of Killeen, Mrs. J. L. Daugherty of Lamasa, and Harry Mize of Belton. Mrs. Mize was a devoted christian throughout her long and useful life, having joined the Baptist church 1855. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church of Nolanville, conducted by Rev. Layton Maddox, pastor of the First Baptist church of Belton, with interment in the Nolan Valley cemetery.
