ELWOOD- Joe B. Baker, 53, a native of Elwood, died suddenly at his home in Anaheim, Calif. He was employed with Delco Battery there.
He was a member of the Christian Church, the Elks and IOOF lodges. Born May 30, 1917, he was a son of Clifford C. and Jane Bird Baker. He was married in 1937 to the former Ms. Hester Faye Updegraff, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, his mother, Mrs. Jane Baker of Elwood; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Martin of Somerset, and Mrs. Loris Gill, two brothers, and six grandchildren.
The body will be returned to the Copher Fesler Funeral Home for final rites and burial. Arrangements are yet incomplete.
