Harrell Denson Gibbs, 73, of Bay City died Nov. 26, 2002 at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was born Nov. 3, 1929 in Yarrellton, Texas to the late Carroll Thomas and Maxie Lou Underwood Gibbs.

Gibbs was a resident of Bay City since 1944 and a member of the First Baptist Church.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and retired from Matagorda County, as a deputy sheriff.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jewel Cleek, Gracie Glauser, Mildred Getty and Doris Cockburn; and brothers, William, Coleman, and Joe Taylor Gibbs.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Nickie Hale, Gene Temple, Kenneth A. Gibbs, Bobby Bonorden, Curtis Dykes, John Hale and Flirsh Ermis.Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Richardson, Jimmy, Clarence, and Quintin Joines, Clayton Irwin, Ken Montgomery and Norman Raif.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
