Maxie Lou Underwood Gibbs

Mrs. Maxie Lou Gibbs, 89, died in the Matagorda General Hospital May 25, 1976. She was born Feb. 4, 1887 in Tennessee. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Gracie Glauser of San Antonio, Mrs. Lucille Richardson of Bay City, Mrs. Irene Hale of San Antonio and Mrs. Doris Cockburn of Pasadena; four sons, Coleman Gibbs of Leesville, La., Elmer Gibbs of Marble Falls, Kenneth Gibbs of Houston and Harrell Gibbs of Bay City; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Hargett of Sweeny and Mrs. Bernice McCall of Cameron; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church. A retired nurse, Mrs. Gibbs was a resident of Bay City for 30 years. The funeral will be held from the Taylor Brothers Chapel on May 27, 1976 at 2 p. m. with the Rev. W. D. Baker officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are W. R. Joines, Bill Reese, Joyce & Frank Richardson, Harold Wheat, and Don Jean Taylor. Under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
