Born in Marietta, he was the son of Florence Story; and was predeceased by his father, Ike Story; and his sister, Shirley Kelley. Mr. Story was a retired supervisor from Krieger Mfg., and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mae Bates Story; sons, Cory Story and wife, Carole, Michael and Scott, and Buster Anderson and wife, Betty; daughters, Donna, Vicki and husband, Lloyd, Becky and Minnie Gray; sisters, Margaret Gardner, Josephine Jones and Dorothy Sexton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a special granddaughter, Stephanie Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605.
