Donald "Don" D. Westenmeyer, 79, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Friends may call on Friday, April 23, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Murray Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Saturday, April 24, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 24, a closing service will be held at 10:30 a.m., at the Murray Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Emmanuel Udo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, town of Beaver Dam. Military graveside service will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 in Beaver Dam.

Don was born on May 31, 1924, in Beaver Dam, the son of George and Mary (Willand) Westenmeyer. He was married to Marjorie Mersch on May 29, 1948, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Don was a graduate of St. Peter's School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Canine Corp. and was stationed in Siapan. He was a professional semi driver for Beaver Transport in Beaver Dam and Motor Transport in Watertown for 31 years. Following his retirement in 1978, he, his wife and his son Rick co-owned the Boy Blue Restaurant in Beaver Dam where he remained active until he suffered a stroke. He enjoyed deer hunting and bowled in the mixed couples league in Beaver Dam for 18 years. Don was a member of St. Katharine Drexel-St. Peter's Church and the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Westenmeyer, Beaver Dam; one son, Rick Westenmeyer, Beaver Dam; one sister, Julie Lehner, Beaver Dam, and one sister-in-law, Doris Westenmeyer, Beaver Dam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tony and John Westenmeyer Sr., and three sisters, Magdeline Hupf, Mary Schmidt, and Eva Yagodinski.
