My Great Grandmother Maria was the Daughter of Antonio Bologna and Barbara Pinciaro. Maria was born at San Marco Dei Cavoti, in the Region of Campania, in the Province of Benevento.
She came to America on board the Ship "Calabria" September 16, 1910 and passed through Ellis Island at age of 16 with Mother and Brothers and Sisters and married Vincenzo DeConno October 22, 1910 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Watervliet,Ny.
Together they had 6 children; 4 Daughters, and 2 sons.
She was a Homemaker, and Grocer and Tiny Tots Factory; Sewing Machine Operator and
Operator and Owner of Vincenzo's Grocery Store at 41 Paine Street in Green Island. She recieved a Letter from President Jimmy Carter commemorating her for her
86th Birthday. She was a Member of the Village of Green Island Italian Club Organization, and the Senior
Citizen's Club of Green Island.
Maria was naturalized in 1911, she was the Oldest Child In her Family.
Maria died at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, New York.
I was born on her birthday February 18th.
