Aged 80 years. A Life-long resident of South Philadelphia, Joseph Jesse Carmolingo never married and had no children. Uncle Joe was a paratrooper in WW II. He joined the Army at age 18, on April, 22nd, 1944 and served with the 11th Airborne Division - Company E, 3rd Battalion of the 511th Airborne Infantry, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations - Luzon and the Philippines. He was wounded on April 22nd, 1945 , at the battle for Mount Malepunyo, and received his Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He returned to his unit after his recovery.
Uncle Joe shared a home (2706 South 8th Street in Philadelphia) and an old Cadillac, with his brother Sam. Joe retired from Publicker Industries in Phila. He was a personable man who always had a good story to tell and livened up every conversation.
