The father, a native of Massachusetts, came to Des Moines in 1900 and has since been engaged in the practice of law as a member of the firm of Royal & Royal.
In the fall of 1910 he was a candidate upon the democratic ticket for district judge. He is recognized as a thorough lawyer and a man of unimpeachable integrity.
On the maternal side the family has traced its ancestry to Sir Francis Drake, of the time of Queen Elizabeth, the first English commander who saw the Pacific.
FIVE children came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. Royal:
Mary, now the wife of Ralph Tracey, a Pullman conductor;
Lester A. Royal
Clifton D. B., now engaged in the practice with his father as junior member of the firm of Royal & Royal
Marvia and Gerald A., both at home, the latter attending the high school.
