U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1878 and commenced to practice law in Galva, Illinois. Moving to Nebraska in 1883, he was prosecuting attorney of Antelope County, (1888-94) and judge of the Ninth Judicial District Court of Nebraska, (1900-07). In 1907, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixtieth Congress, serving until 1909. After his term, he resumed the practice of law, relocated to California, in 1929 and lived in retirement until his death at age 91.
