US Congressman. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, he graduated from Asbury University Indiana, studied law, was admitted to the bar, commenced to practice law in Terre Haute, Indiana and held several local political offices. In 1855, he was elected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress, serving until 1857. After his term he resumed the practice of law and was judge of the circuit court of Vigo County Indiana, (1881-84). In 1887, he moved to Pasadena, California, where lived until his death at age 72.
