Nancy was the daughter of Amos E. Darnall and Elizabeth Marion of Clark Co., IL Nancy married William Clapp on February 12, 1860. They were the parents of William S. and Ginevra E.

The following obituary was published in June of 1916 in the Seward Independent Democrat; pg. 5:

Nancy Ann Darnell was born Dec. 23, 1841 in Edgar county, Illinois. She was married to William P. Clapp in Mattoon, Ill., Feb. 12, 1860, and moved to Nebraska with her husband in 1867. She passed away with dropsy at her home near Tamora June 13, 1916, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 13 days.

To this union seven children were born. Three preceded her in death and her husband died on April 16, 1875. Three daughters and one son survive her: Mrs. Jane Hart of Medicine Hat, Canada; Mrs. Mattie Ford of Marion, Kans.; Mrs. Ellen Bye of Saline, Kans, and Chester Clapp of Tamora, with many other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 at the Tamora M.E. church, Rev. Pruitt officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the North cemetery of Seward.
