U.S. Congressman. During World War I, he served in France as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. After the war, he moved to California in 1919, was postmaster at Arcadia, (1923-31) and became editor of National Defense Magazine, in 1928. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and to the Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his editorial interests and later died in retirement.
