J. M. Self Dies at 85

J. M. Self, 85–year–old retired rural mail carrier, died this morning. He had been a resident of Lone Oak for many years. Mr. Self carried the mail out of Hickman for 32 years. His routes even included a strip of Tennessee adjoining Fulton County.

He was born in Hickman.

Mr. Self was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.

Mr. Self had been in failing health for several years.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. V. Alderson of Lone Oak, a teacher in Lone Oak High School; seven grandchildren and 12 great–grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at White–Ransom Funeral Home at Union City, Tenn. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery.
