She was born Nov. 2, 1903, in Fairveiw, Utah, to Isaac Franklin and Viola Susanah Ivie Shepard. She grew up in Indianola, Utah, and attended primary schools there. The family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Utah, when she was 15, and she graduated from high school there.
She married Gy C. Hansen on June 25, 1924, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. After their marriage, they lived on the John K. Madsen Ranch in Utah, and then lived in Mt. Pleasant for 20 years. They subsequently moved to Idaho Falls to ranch, and she has lived here for the last 51 years. Her husband died April 5, 1964. She was a homemaker, mother, child-care provider, and had worked as a sales clerk.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, and she served as visiting teacher and visiting teacher supervisor, magazine representative, MIA secretary, and Laurel leader. She enjoyed cooking, genealogy work, and loved children.
Survivors include six children, Joyce Terry of Ogden, Utah, Reese Hansen and Gy C. Hansen of Idaho Falls, Carol Ragen of Ammon, Merrill Hansen of Ucon, and Billie Wilson of Sunset, Utah; two brothers, Lorraine Shepherd of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and Lynn Shepherd of Salt Lake City, Utah; 45 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, and five grandchildren.
