Marshall E. Agnew, 68, of Energy Way Road, Bayard, WV, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Garrett Memorial Hospital in Oakland, MD.

Born on November 21, 1942 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Carl and Mary (Didawick) Agnew.

Mr. Agnew was employed for many years as a drill operator with several coal mining companies. He was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Bismarck, WV and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Wilda C. (Day) Agnew; three sons, Robert Agnew of Three Churches, WV, Elvis Agnew and wife Belinda of Springfield, WV and Jerry Agnew of Bayard; two daughters, Virginia Sampsell and husband Darald "Stubby" of Wardensville, WV and Julie Agnew of Green Spring, WV; one brother, Charles Agnew of Mount Storm, WV; one sister, Sandy Johnson of Bayard; nine grandchildren, September and Bennie Montgomery, Robert Agnew, Jr., Thomas Agnew and wife Felicia, Rickey Agnew, Daisy Gue and husband David, Amber and May Swisher and Rose Agnew and five great-grandchildren, Tina Miller, Kamerin Nickleson and Trevor, Chloe and Brayden Gue.

Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Walker officiating.

Interment was in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Bismarck.
