On March 17, 1865, Emily was granted a Mother's pension based on his wartime service. Byron Alford died at Eldred, Pennsylvania in 1899. The last named child was born at Fettermans's Run near Union City, Pennsylvania.

In 1856, Milo left his family and he and Jane moved to Portage, Columbia County, New York. There was never any formal divorce by either Milo or Emily, but articles of agreement were drawn up in which they agreed to nothing further to do with each other.

However, there is letter dated June 19, 1903 from the Law Division of the Bureau of Pensions, in which the Chief of that Division laid out all the various marriages of both Milo and Ladorna and determined that Milo had never been legally married to anyone except his first wife Emily, and that after her death, he was legally free to marry. Since his marriage to Ladorna occurred after Emily's death, Ladorna was legally regarded as his widow.

His enlistment was credited to Brookfield, Waukasha County, Wisconsin.
On May 24, 1864 Orin was assigned to Company A by virtue of Special Order No 35, Hd. Qrs. 28th Wisconsin Infantry. On August 8, 1864, he died of chronic diarrhea while hospitalized at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Orin M. Wilson was a Civil War soldier. He enlisted February 16, 1864 at Waukesha, Wisconsin, to serve three years as a Private in the 28th Wisconsin Infantry. On March 11, 1864 he was mustered into Federal service with Company A at Madison, Wisconsin. At that time he received $60.00 of his $300.00 Federal enlistment bounty and was listed as a 34 years old, 5'7" tall farmer with brown hair, blue eyes and a light complexion born in Pomphret, New York. His enlistment was credited to Brookfield, Waukasha County, Wisconsin.
On May 24, 1864 Orin was assigned to Company A by virtue of Special Order No 35, Hd. Qrs. 28th Wisconsin Infantry. On August 8, 1864, he died of chronic diarrhea while hospitalized at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Ladorna's second marriage was December 25, 1865, when she was united in marriage to James B. Miles, at Sumner Township, Barron County, Wisconsin. He was born January 24, 1825, died December 22, 1883, and is buried in Lake View Cemetery. They were the parents of six children, of whom three daughters died in infancy. In the 1890 U.S. Census, Special Schedule, Milo C. Alford was listed as living in Sumner Township, Barron County, Wisconsin, and as having served as a Private in Company G of the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry, from April 21, 1861 to Dec 20, 1862, fro total service of 1 year, 7 months and 20 days.
Milo was a Civil War veteran who enlisted, April 26, 1861, at Portage, Columbia County, Wisconsin, to serve three years as a Private in Company G of the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry. On June 11, 1861, he was mustered in with Company G at Madison, Wisconsin. At that time he was listed as a 43 year old, 5'10" tall carpenter, with gray hair, gray eyes and a dark complexion.
On September 17, 1862, Milo was wounded in the left side of his chest near Sharpsburg, Maryland, during the battle of Antietem, and was hospitalized at Baltimore, Maryland.
On November 22, 1862, he received a physical examination and it was determined that he was unable to perform the duties of a soldier. He was considered 50% disabled and on December 20, 1862, he was discharged under a Surgeon's Certificate Of Disability, at the United States Army General Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.
On February 2, 1865 Ladorna Wilson filed Application No. 81,653 for a Widow's pension, which was approved under Certificate No. 58,566. On February 5, 1867, subsequent to her marriage to James B. Miles, she filed Application No. 81,653 for pension for her minor children, which was approved under Certificate No. 58,566 at the rate of $2.00 per month for each child under the age of 16 years.
