Edson served for over fifty years as a Southern Baptist minister in Alabama. He began serving in the ministry in 1948 at Presley Street Baptist Church in Atmore and went on to serve at the following churches in Alabama; Ulcanush Baptist Church, Coffeeville, AL., Gilbertown Baptist Church, Gilbertown, AL., Wilmer Baptist Church, Wilmer, AL., Citronelle Baptist Church, Citronelle, AL., Turnerville Baptist Church, Turnerville, AL., Kushla Baptist Church, Kushla, AL. and White House Fork Baptist Church, White House Fork, AL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Luker Drew. Rev. Drew is survived by his son, Michael Drew of Mobile; daughter, Deborah (Steve) Williams of Turnerville, AL,; five grandchildren, Shaun Williams, Shea (Monica) Williams, Dustin (Carrie) Williams, Kristin (Trea) Vickers, Ricka Dunlap; nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 14, at the chapel of Radney Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Meaux and Rev. Don Campbell officiating,
