Robert Simeon Dameron was the son of Simeon and Mary Dameron. He was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama in 1849, married Maria Ann Angel there in 1869, and had a son there in 1870. The family migrated to McLennan County, Texas in 1871 and had their last four children in Texas.

After Maria died in McLennan, Texas in 1904, Sim married his childhood sweetheart from Lauderdale County, also widowed, in 1905 -- Malinda Mutelle Armour Bryan. They lived in Burleson, Texas for a time after they married.
