Ann Elizabeth O'Hara Shackelford was born October 22, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota to Robert and Lillian (Hedman) O'Hara. She was baptized as an infant and affirmed her baptism as a teenager into the Lutheran faith. She received her education in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. On September 24, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harold (Harry) Shackelford. Four daughters were born to this union. The family lived in Stuart, Guthrie Center, Coon Rapids, Bayard, Perry, Manchester and Jefferson, IA.

Through the years, Ann was a homemaker and after the children were in school, she worked outside the home. She was employed at Perry Day Care Center, Asgrow Seed Company, Midwest Gas, MidAmerican Energy. In 2006, she retired from Delaware County Community Services in Manchester.

Ann is remembered as a caring, sensitive wife, mother, grandmother and friend with a radiant smile that brought light to all. Her joys were her family; loving husband, her daughters and sons in law and grandchildren. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by the laughter of her family. She enjoyed reading, crafts, scrapbooking, travel, gardening, Red Hatters and of course, golf. Over the years, she was active in church, 4H, Girl Scouts and Past President BPW.

Ann is survived by the love of her life, husband Harry, daughters Dana Shackelford, Lewisville, Texas, Julie (Mike) Almond, Flower Mound, Texas, Laura (Don) Blum, Clive, Iowa and Debra (John) Seeman, Panora, Iowa; grandchildren Max and Maddie Seeman, Jacob and Audrey Blum and Luke and Clay Almond; one brother and two sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson was in charge of arrangements for Ann Shackelford, 69, of Jefferson. A Celebration of Life service was at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Jefferson. A private family burial took place in the Highland Cemetery, Bayard, IA. Visitation was after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service followed at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the family and will be determined at a later date. Memorials can be sent to PO Box 765, Panora, IA 50216.
