Mary Alice Smith, 88, of Michigan City, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at 11:15 a.m. at The Arbors in Michigan City.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will take place after services in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Mary was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Tipton County, Tennessee, to the late Bright H. and Linne A. (Davis) Mashburn.
On July 6, 1945 in Hernanda, Miss., she married Aubrey W. Smith who passed away on June 14, 1980.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Alan) McGee of Portage, Ind., Betty (Larry) Fieldhouse of Naples, Fla., and Teresa (Richard) Koch of Michigan City; one son: Larry (Brenda) Smith of Michigan City; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death are two sons, Charles "Chuck" Smith and Richard Smith; three grandchildren, Tracy Koch, Dean Smith and Kenny Smith; two sisters, Lidy Turner and Martha Short; and five brothers, George, Edward Alexander, Sandy Wooten, Palmer and Bright.
Mary retired from Jaymar Ruby after 20 years of service as a sewer.
She was a member of Pines Bible Church.
Memorials may be made to Pines Bible Church.
