US Congressman. He graduated from the Niles High School in 1876, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1884 and commenced to practice law in Niles, Michigan. In 1897, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth Congress and to the next eleven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1921. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in the practice of law until his death at age 65.
