Duane E. Baker, 61, 102 Ave D. Southwest, Melbourne, Fla. a former Rockford resident, died at 10:40 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 26, 1984 in Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, after a long illness. Born Jan. 20, 1902 in Durand, son of Roy H. and Evea Baker. Lived in Rockford until 1958, then moved to Florida. Married to Marilyn Erbe. Employed by Harris Government Systems, Melbourne. Army veteran of World War II. Member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Melbourne; also member of Masonic Lodge 143, Melbourne; Lake Worth Scottish Rite; Azan Shrine Temple; Greater Melbourne Shrine club; Magi Shrine, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem; past patron, Harbor Chapter 263, Order of the Eastern Star; and Melbourne chapter 106, OES. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, Melbourne, and a brother, Dwight Baker, Normal.
Services at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in Brownlie and Maxwell Funeral Home, Melbourne, Fla., with the Rev. Ken Crossman, Pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Melbourne, officiating. Burial in Florida Memorial Gardens, Cocoa, Fla.


Son of Roy Haskell Baker 1895-1969 and Eva B. Kinney Baker 1899-1983. Brother of Dwight A. Baker 1925-2005. Married Marilyn Bernita Erbe on March 11, 1951 in Durand, Illinois. (no children)
