L C Dodson 15 years and in the southeast Panhandle and southwest Oklahoma area since he was a child. He was semi-retired.

Born at Mt. Vernon, July 14, 1914, he was the son of the late Charley Allen and Mary Ellen Hinsley Leathers. They brought their family to the Dryden community near Hollis in 1924. Mr. Leathers grew up in that area.

He was married to Miss Lorene Moore of Hollis in 1935, and they farmed there for about 5 years. For the next 20 years, he had his farming operations in north Childress County on Buck Creek, before he and Mrs Leathers moved into Dodson. He attended Antioch Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at Antioch Church, at 2:30 pm Weds with the Rev Hoyt Ellis, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery at Hollis under the direction of Patterson Coley Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Freddy Mayhugh, Herschel Mayhugh, Steve Kane, Larry Kane, Rodney Kane, Lonnie Robertson and Howard Hunt.

Surviving Mr Leathers are his wife; two sons, Kenneth Leathers of Angus, Ontario, Canada attd George Leathers of Amarillo; 6 grandchildren: Stephen, Tracy, Ricky and Craig Leathers of Angus, and Bret and Nicholas Leathers of Amarillo; and one sister, Mrs Everdean Overton of Mount Vernon.

L C attended Red Top School and graduated from Gould High School, Gould, Harmon County, Oklahoma in 1933 where he took part in all athletics and won several medals in high jumping and was nick named "Legs"
