Carneal, Katherine Pemberton, of Seaford, VA, formerly of Mechanicsville, VA, devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her residence on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Katherine was 93 years old. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John Everett Carneal and her two sons, James David Carneal and Sterling Yoder Carneal. She is survived by her grandchildren, James David Carneal, Jr., Kimberly Carneal Goehle and her husband Greg Goehle, Jay Everett Carneal and his wife Mary Morrissette Carneal, Courtney Carneal Melchor and her husband Rick Melchor and Christopher Sterling Carneal and his wife Sue Carneal; her great-granchildren, Joel David Carneal, Shannon DeFaye Carneal, Adam Martin Goehle, Maxwell Carneal Goehle, Everett Taylor Carneal, Frances Darby Carneal, Morgan Embrey Melchor and Maren Page Melchor; and a host of other family and friends. Outside of her family, Katherine loved the water and fishing the best. She lived a full, happy life surrounded by her family and friends and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, from 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue where services will be held Wednesday, September 29 at 10 am. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3961 Deep Rock Road, Richmond, VA 23233.
