Thelma Rheubertia Epperson, 98, of 2220 State St., Pekin, formerly of Fandel Drive in East Peoria, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Timbercreek Rehab & Healthcare in Pekin. Born Nov. 17, 1912, in Hamilton County, Ill., to George and Etta (Sexton) Richardson, she married Ades Austin Epperson on May 20, 1933, in Wayne County, Ill. He preceded her in death in November of 1987 in East Peoria. Also preceding her in death were two sisters and one brother. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Thelma) Epperson of Ottawa and Stanley Epperson of Maine; three daughters, Barb Hart of Creve Coeur, Darlene (Jim) Coppejans of Geneseo and Peggy (Wilfred) Blundy of East Peoria; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy Heffron of Buffalo Grove and Nora Aaron of Hoopstown. A homemaker, Thelma loved to quilt, garden and do canning and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of Olive Branch Church in Wayne City, Ill. Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association , 2501 Chatham Road, Springfield, IL 62704.
