Frederick Christian Seiler and his family came to the United States about 1833, entering at New Orleans. They spent the first winter at Evansville, IN, and settled in Wabash County, IL in 1835.

He was born 15 Sep 1788 Westhofen, Worms, and baptized 17 September 1788 near Worms Rhinehessen, Hessen Darmstadt where he was born. (The area was occupied by France 1789–1816 and awarded to Hesse 1816) His parents were Frederick Christian Seiler ( died 11 March 1795 at Westhofen,
Worms, Rhinehessen, Hessen Darmstadt)and Maria Magdalena Schaefer (died 23 November 1822 at Westhofen)

Frederick Christian married Anna Elizabeth Copp/Kopp November 1817 in Westhofen, Germany. They naturalized between 1845-1850. He helped organize the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Mt. Carmel, IL and served as an elder. He died 1861 Wabash Co IL on the family farm.
Westhofen parish records indicate that Jacob and Margaret, or certainly Margaret, were born to Frederick Seiler and Anna Elizabeth, illegitimately, and that they did eventually marry and have two additional children, Sebastian and Elizabeth. Parish records indicate they also had sons Johann and Heinrich.
