Quote from a letter posted on the Vietnam War Virtual Wall

Harry Branham Testimonal from Heather Thomas Rider

My father Gary Lee Thomas considered Harry Branham his very best friend. My dad said Harry was always a giving man. If he had anything he would have given it to others before he kept it for himself.

My dad served with the 554th Light Maintenance Company in Qui Nhon, Vietnam and remembers the day Mr. Branham was killed. Giving as he was, he decided to go ahead of my dad, since Dad had a little girl at home he had never seen. My father watched him get killed.

This is something that haunts him to this day. He wasn't anyone who knew Mr. Branham that he is sorry, but because of his courage, my dad has a wonderful life. He was able to return home, have 2 children of his own, marry a woman with 3 children, and complete their family together with me, the youngest of 6 combined. He now has 11 grandchildren.

Please allow Harry Branham on The Virtual Wall. We are so sorry for the hurt that his family has dealt with. We feel for the friends who buried him and for the soldiers with him when he died. My dad will not tell many things about the war, but he does talk about Harry.

He loved Harry very much and one thing I will always remember is that the only way my dad ever found any peace was knowing that Harry did not suffer when he was killed. He was so proud of him.

Thank you Harry Branham ... Without you, I wouldn't be alive and I wouldnt be blessed with my beautiful children.

From the daughter of his best friend in Vietnam,

Heather Rider
Virginia

And this memory from Mr. Bill Bellinger at the same URL.

I knew SP4 Harry Walter Branham. He was in my unit in Vietnam, the 85th Maintenance Company. We were located in Da Nang with a heavy equipment maintenance detachment in Dong Ha. Harry was with that detachment. He was killed in an ambush on March 18, 1967, with another soldier from another unit. I was their escort from Da Nang to the Saigon Mortuary. May he rest in peace.
