Fred Beecher Died Sunday in Falls
Frederick William Beecher passed away at 10:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Columbus hospital in Great Falls following an illness that extended over the past eight weeks, during which everything possible was done for him, including a number of blood transfusions. Death was caused by virus pleural pneumonia.
The news of his passing will come as a great shock to a large circle of friends who had known him for the past 22 years as a resident of this city. During that time he had worked on thousands of automobiles for residents of this territory, having been connected in that time with almost all garages in the city, but more recently Grantham's Mobile station and last with the Midlestadt Pontiac station where he went to work a few months ago. He was an expert mechanic and took a great pride in doing his work. His passing will be mourned by all who new him.
Frederick William (Fred) Beecher was born June 24, 1893, in Glenwood, Calif., where he spent his early life. Leaving there he spent some time in Connecticut then went to Saskatchewan, Canada, and he was married there on Oct. 13, 1941, and resided there until coming to Montana in 1924. The following year they moved to Fort Benton and have continued to reside here since that time.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Louise Beecher, and by two daughters and four sons: Esther Ronning of Great Falls; Evelyn, of this city; Howard and Everett, of Great Falls; Donald of Fort Benton, and Earl of San Francisco, Calif. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cary Townsend of Saskatchewan, and Mrs. Edna Hogg, of Vancouver, B. C., besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Fort Benton Funeral Home chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery.
