Lucinda Jane was the daughter of John B. Jones and his wife Mary. She was born in eastern Missouri, possibly in St. Francois County which is where she is found with her father and siblings in the 1850 census.

She married her first husband, Joseph St. Germain, on 20 April 1864 in Madison County, Missouri. Two sons from this union are shown in the 1880 census: W. J. St. Germain (born about 1865), and Bouvier St. Germain (b. abt. 1871).

The widowed Lucinda married her second husband, Augustus Felix "Gus" Gregoire, on 7 June 1877 in Madison County, Missouri. Three children from this union are identified as Frank Gregoire (b. abt. 1878), Joseph Ott Gregoire (1881-1978), and Mary Sue Gregoire (1883-1955).

After the death of Gus Gregoire, Lucinda married for a third time, to Claude Etienne Barbier, on 29 April 1894, near Patton in Bollinger County, Missouri.

The 1900 census of Union, Bollinger County, shows Lucinda J. Barbier, married, residing apart from her husband and with her two youngest children, Joseph Gregoire, age 18, and Mary S. Gregoire, age 17. The census indicates that Lucinda was the mother of 9 children, 5 living.

In 1910 Lucinda J. Gregoire is enumerated in the Custer, South Dakota, household of her son-in-law, Robert L. McDuff, and her daughter Mary. (Although listed as a widow, her third husband Mr. Barbier was still living.)

By 1920 Lucinda, with the McDuff family, had returned to Missouri. They lived on N. 9th Street in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, where Robert McDuff was working as a motorman for the railway.

The city directories of Fort Worth, Texas, show Robert and Mary McDuff residing in that city by 1924, and Lucinda Gregoire by 1926. Robert was an ice delivery man. In the 1930 census, Lucinda and the McDuffs are residing at 1209 Davis Street.

Lucinda's death certificate shows that she died at the age of 90 years of natural causes and "infirmities of old age."
