US Congressman. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Michigan's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1893 to 1897. He was defeated in 1896. Also served as a Member of the Michigan State House of Representatives from Allegan County for the 1st District from 1873 to 1874, Member of the Michigan State Senate for the 14th District from 1875 to 1876, and Delegate to the Republican National Convention from Michigan in 1884.
