Lawrence G. Fischer, 73, of rural Valders, died Monday evening, January 1, 1990, at Lehigh Acres, Florida. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty. Rev. Robert Schultz will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fischer was born March 14, 1916, in the Town of Liberty, son of the late H.L. Fischer and Elsie Horstman. He attended Roselawn School and was a 1935 graduate of Valders High School. Mr. Fischer also attended Lakeland College and the University of Wisconsin Short Course. He farmed in the Town of Liberty. Mr. Fischer was an agent for the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau Insurance and the Insurance Cooperative Agency of Madison. He married Orabelle Klessig, June 17, 1939, at Cleveland, Wisconsin.

Mr. Fischer was a leader in the farming and insurance businesses in the Valders area. He was a former 4-H leader and was involved in softball and baseball in the Manitowoc County League. Mr. Fischer was a member of Meister Singers and local Barbershop Quartets and Manitowoc County Farm Bureau. He was a charter member of Lake to Lake Dairy Cooperative, past member of Valders Lions Club and a member of Valders Senior Citizens. Mr. Fischer was presently serving as a Supervisor for many years in the Town of Liberty. He was the first recipient of the Wisconsin Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmers Award.

Survivors include his wife, Orabelle, two sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick L. and Dora nee Sely Fischer of rural Valders, Gerald B. and Debborah nee Schroeder Fischer of Appleton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay D. and Col. Terry Klingseth of Canada; 9 grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Vicki, Robin, Sarah, Julie, Dan, Erika and Andy Fischer, Jeff and Amy Klingseth and a great grandchild, Jesse Lawrence Fischer. He was preceded in death by a brother, Burdette.

Friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of services. Christianson Deja Funeral Home, Valders, serving the family. -
