Parents Ida (Ahring) and Louis W. Block. When he was three years old, they moved to the Block Family Farm and later moved to the town of Owensville. In 1931, they moved to Hermann where he completed his schooling. After two years in college, he taught in a one room rural school for two years. He completed his B.S. in Business and his MBA at Northwestern University and was a CPA. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He married Lucy Jane Moore on November 29, 1942..He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Celeste Meyer and brother, Melvin Block.
He is survived by his wife of 68-1/2 years, Lucy Jane; son, Stephen and wife, Sandra; daughter, Deaconess Jean and husband, Paul Warren; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marolyn Block, Montgomery City.
Interment will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, near Owensville.
