Roscoe Mayfield, age 89, of Brooksville, Kentucky, formerly of Falmouth, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011, at the Bracken County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Bracken County. Born on April 9, 1922, he was a son of the late Peter Franklin and Laura Hinkle Mayfield. He married Wynona Ruth Winkle, and she preceded him in death on June 23, 1993. He was a retired butcher with Juengling Brothers, in Cincinnati, a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of Lenoxburg Baptist Church.

He is survived by: three children, Margaret (Billy Jo) Owens, of Pensacola, Florida, Wesley Lee Mayfield, of Florence, Kentucky, and Roscoe Allen (Debbie) Mayfield, of Brooksville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter (Reba) Mayfield, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and three sisters, Jessie Taylor, of Elizabethtown, Bertha McFadden, of Rock Hold, Kentucky, and Ola Laggers, of Maine.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, at Woodhead Funeral Home, in Falmouth, with Brother Don Mays officiating. Burial will follow at Pythian Grove Cemetery, in Berry, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of choice.
