FAIRBURY, Ill.—William E. Alford, 72, of Fairbury died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Asta Care Center in Pontiac, Ill. He was born in Centertown [Ohio Co., KY], was a crusher operator at Fairbury Stone Co. and was a member of Midwest operating engineers in Joliet, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eufaula P. Gray Alford, on Aug. 28, 1987; and a son.

Survivors include a son, Glenn G. Alford of Belton, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Willis Alford of Fairbury; and a sister, Geneva Crow of Chatsworth, Ill.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury.... The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to OSF St. James Hospice of Central Illinois....

FAIRBURY—The funeral of William E. Alford, 72, of Fairbury will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The Rev. Russell Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the memorial home.

He died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday (April 4, 1999) at the Asta Care Center, Pontiac.

Memorials may be made to OSF Saint James Hospice of Central Illinois.

He was born May 16, 1926, at Centertown, Ky., the son of Chester Lee and Letha Jane Martin Alford. He married Eufaula P. Gray on Jan. 29, 1944, at Hartford, Ky. She died Aug. 28, 1987.

Survivors include his son, Glenn G. (Beth) Alford, Belton, Mo.; his brother, Willis (Joyce) Alford, Fairbury; his sister, Geneva Crow, Chatsworth; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

One brother, two sisters and one son preceded him in death.
