Louis Edward Thomas, 68, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, August 2, 2011.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Faith Baptist Church with Larry Shields and Dr. David Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at Byers Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

The son of the late Velvie (Barnes) and Charles Edward Thomas, Louis was born on January 14, 1943, in Gastonia, North Carolina. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. He worked in maintenance for the Wichita Falls Independent School District prior to his retirement and was currently employed at Kell West Hospital.

Louis and Wynell Roy were married on August 20, 1962, in Wichita Falls. They would have celebrated their 49th anniversary this month.

Louis devoted over 30 years to the Boy Scouts of America. He served in many capacities during these years including: the Council Commissioner, Council Executive Board Member, Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor Member and Wood Badge.

Louis is survived by his wife, Wynell Thomas of Wichita Falls; daughter, Lori Boykin and husband, John, of Wichita Falls; son, Tim Thomas and wife, Liz, of Wichita Falls; sister, Mary Bumgarner, of McCaysville, Georgia; grandchildren, Brandon Hamadi, Tyler Thomas and Emily Thomas; extended family, Brooke Bentley and Joshua Boykin, Colby, Alyssa and Rayleigh.

The family will receive friends and family from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the funeral home.
