"Guido J. Allegrezza, 63; won Purple Heart
Guido J. Allegrezza, 63, a former prisoner of war and recipient of the Purple Heart, died Monday at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Mr. Allegrezza, a resident of Maple Glen, was born and raised in Milford, Mass. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in Europe and received a Purple Heart for being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Allegrezza graduated from Villanova University in 1952 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Keystone-Yarway Corp. in Blue Bell until his retirement last year. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Maple Glen and of Keystone State Lodge 16 of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Rexer Allegrezza; three sons, Guido J., Fred J. and John M.; four daughters, Mary Lou A. Cook, Carol A. Mears, Beth Allegrezza and Anita Marie Allegrezza; two sisters, and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia [sic]. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, 447 W. Moreland Rd., Willow Grove, Pa. 19090, or to St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Temple Drive, Maple Glen, Pa. 19002. Arrangements were made by Shaeff-Meyers Funeral Home of Ambler."
