Edward 'Eddie' E. Rittger, 49, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Morrisonville, IL, died of pneumonia at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 1953 in General No 1 Hospital in Kansas City, where he had been a patient for one day.

The youngest child and only son of Herman and Laura King Rittger, he was born in Morrisonville, Illinois on May 27, 1904. He had moved from Morrisonville a number of years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jean Garlin of Quincy, IL and Mrs. Doris Wollam of Plain City, Ohio; one son, Edward 'Bud' Ruth, who is serving in the Navy aboard the USS Calvert; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Lois) VanZant, of Morrisonville and Mrs. Joe (Awanda) Langen of Premont, Texas.

Remains arrived here Wednesday and were taken to the Bivin Funeral Home where services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, June 11. Burial was made in Morrisonville Cemetery.

Edward Rittger married Katherine Gertrude Howard of Pawnee, Illinois in St Louis, Missouri on March 17, 1925. They were the parents of three children, daughters, Betty Jean and Doris Jane*; and a son Edward Howard*. The marriage ended by 1942.

He passed away in St. Louis, Missouri after being injured in an automobile accident. His death certificate says cause of death was meningitis and pneumonia.

**Gertrude was married to Alex S. Ruth and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, where her children Doris and Edward 'Bud' were raised by, and took on the last name of Ruth.
