Fountain Inn, SC - Jessie Lee Godfrey Cox, 84 of 101 First Street, passed away Monday July 20, 2009 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital.
A native of Laurens County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse B. and Lydia Alma Gwin Godfrey, the wife of Cecil Cox, a home maker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. She was formerly a member of Northside Baptist Church in Woodruff where she had taught the T. E. L. Sunday school class.
Survivors in addition to her husband Cecil of the home include three sons; Keith Cox of Simpsonville and his wife Kathy, Steve Cox of Roper, NC, Phil Cox and his wife Rhonda of Woodruff, one sister; Sallie Mae Vaughn of Woodruff, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Dianne Cox and six sisters.
Visitation will be held 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm Wednesday July 22, 2009 at Forest Hills Funeral Home prior to the 3:00 pm Funeral Service at Forest Hills Funeral Home in The Stribling Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Clevenger and Rev. Randall Parnell. Entombment will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels, 15 Oregon Street Greenville, SC 29605.
