Gordon Francis Whitaker
Gordon Francis Whitaker, 75, of 215 Hageman Rd, Kelso, WA died May 12, 1994, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born May 3, 1919 in Fairview, OK, to Chandler Tuttle and Florence Alvira (Bradshaw) Whitaker and was raised on an Oklahoma farm. He came to the local are from OK in 1942.
Mr. Whitaker was a self employed truck driver and in 1947 he hauled the first load of wood chips to Longview Fibre Co.
He was a member of and deacon of Valley Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes were woodworking and camping.
Survivors include his wife Pauline, at home; three sons, Francis Dorian Whitaker of Coos Bay, OR, Don Anthony Whitaker of Hillsboro, OR and Mark Chandler Whitaker of Belleview; a sister, Mary Paulson of Longview; two brothers, Alva Whitaker of Scappoose, OR and Roy Whitaker of Chester, OK; four grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Peters officiating. Private entombment will be at Longview Memorial Park, Longview, WA.
