Pomeroy Clayton "P.C." Harris, a resident of Owasso, Oklahoma died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the age of 82 years. He was born June 28, 1923 at Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Wilburn Clayton and Annie Laurie (Cain) Harris. He was raised in Borger, Texas. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and went to England with the 8th Air Force during World War II. He participated in the second invasion of Normandy Beach and received the Silver Star in the Battle of the Bulge. He was married November 28, 1946, to Alpha Nadean Burgett in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Tulsa area for 54 years. He spent most of his working life in the fire sprinkler trade, working as a sprinkler fitter in Local 669. He helped start Wilson Fire Protection. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling, spending time in his condominium on Padre Island, Texas, and raising Santa Gertrudis cattle.

His wife, Dean, of the home survives him. Other survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann (Harris) and Thomas Palmer Watts of Owasso, Oklahoma; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard Dean "Rick" and Jane McPhail Harris of Norman, Oklahoma. His grandchildren are Luke Harris of Dry Prong, Louisiana, Miles Harris, Norman, Oklahoma, Michelle Holden and her husband, Steven Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma, Angela Jarrard and her husband, Ryk, and Matthew Watts and his wife, Naomi of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His great-grandchildren are Hunter, Troop, and Roman Holden, Edmond, Oklahoma, Tiana Lynn Johnson, Bricelyn, Minnesota, Sierra and Chloe Jarrard and Damien Watts of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is, also, survived by his half-brother, Clayburn Ray Harris of Cleveland, Oklahoma, his half-sisters, Lavora June (Harris) Hardin of Bruceton, Tennessee, Mae Elizabeth Mallard of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, and Beverly Rhodes of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

His son, Pomeroy Clayton Harris, Jr., preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 21, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Owasso with the Reverend Ben Killion serving as officiating minister. Serving as casket bearers were Luke Harris, Miles Harris, Ryk Jarrard, Matt Watts, Steven Holden, and John Burgett. Keith Whitfield was the vocalist and Shelley Goins was the pianist. Music was "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Committal services and interment with military honors provided by soldiers from Fort Sill, Oklahoma will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cookson Hills Childrens Home, Rt. 3, Box 200, Kansas, OK 74347. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
