FREDERICK WILLIAM JOHNSON , 83, retired farmer, died this morning at his residence in Prophetstown. The body was taken to the Gardner Funeral Chapel where friends may call Sunday evening. Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. William Nicoll, pastor of the Prophetstown Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born March 8, 1877, in Prophetstown Township, the son of Clem D. and Fannie Booth Johnson. He was educated in Jefferson Corners School. He married Mae Shere of Yorktown in Morrison in January 1898. They farmed in the Prophetstown area for a number of years. He had lived his entire lifetime in the area with the exception of a few years spent in North Dakota and Canada. Survivors include one brother, Roy C. Johnson, Prophetstown; a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren in California. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Lloyd E. Johnson; his parents and one sister, Bessie Wildman.
