Andrew McCutcheon died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Everett Hoyt in Des Moines, March 1, after a brief illness.

Mr. McCutcheon was a resident of the Goldfield community until the passing of his wife in 1937. Since that time, he has made his home with his daughters. He has been a member of the Goldfield United Presbyterian Church ever since coming to Wright county. He was active in school, church, and community affairs; but his main interest was his family.

Andrew McCutcheon was born in Barrhill, Ayrshire, Scotland, July 19, 1861 to John and Mary McCutcheon. He was the fifth child in a family of nine, all preceding him in death save a younger sister, Mrs. Wm. Ferguson of Ballanray, Scotland. He came to America in 1880 at the age of 19, to join his brother, Wm. McCutcheon and began his farming career.

He was married to Jeanette Provan on March 5, 1886, and established a home in Traer, where the two eider children were born. In 1889 he moved to Goldfield where the remaining six children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

Mr McCutcheon is survived by his seven children, John, Will and George of Goldfield, Mrs. Everett Hoyt and Edna of Des Moines, Arthur of Traer, and Mrs. Grace Lister of Eagle Grove. 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.

His staunch pioneer spirit and his integrity were deeply admired by all who knew him and his passing will be a loss to his family, friends and community.

Private prayers with the family were offered at the Kastler Funeral Home in Eagle Grove at l:30 p. m. and the public service in the Goldfield United Presbyterian church at 2 p. m. with Rev. C. G. McKnight officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Merle Harvey, organist, and Bill Griffith, soloist.
