Raised in Maywood, Illinois and in his later years would tell of game fishing in the Des Plaines River and the deer grazing there. Married Viola E. Lines and had a son and a daughter who were raised in their 2nd Avenue home where he would reside for the remainder of his life. Viola preceded him in death. Worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Rail Road, Proviso Yards. He enjoyed traveling on his lifetime pass after retirement, often visiting his daughter in New York or vacationing in Florida. He would often bring home Spanish moss and allow it to grow in his yard over the summer. He often entertained neighborhood kids and if you were lucky, would get to enjoy large steaks which he would proudly broil in his coal furnace. His last couple years he moved to the retirement home a couple blocks from his home place.
