Ruth Wilt, daughter of John and Elizabeth Mock, was born in Ward
township, Randolph County, Ind., August 11th, 1834. Died in the same
township, August 15th, 1905. She was married to Edward Edgar in
Deerfield, Ind., May 1st, 1851. To this union four children were born,
and survive her. On July 4th, 1866, she was married to her present
husband George Wilt, in Deerfield, who survives, and of their union, two
children survive her. Except of about four months she lived all of her
life in Randolph Co., Ind., and most of the time in Ward township. She
had been a member of some church the greater part of her life, and at
the time of her death was a member of the Christian church. She was a
woman of more than the average intelligence and was greatly devoted to
her family and was well read and posted in all the events of the time.
She was a woman without enemies, and well like by all her neighbors,
wherever she lived. She had been a sufferer for some years, but bore it
all patiently, and with Christian fortitude. She made all the
arrangements for her funeral service, even making choice of a text of
scripture upon which her funeral sermon should be founded, and from the
choice of her text we are assured that she awaited the end with joy and
not with fear. Funeral services were held at the family home, on Thursday afternoon
at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. John A. Watson. Interment at Reitenour
Cemetery.
